- 364: Valens is proclaimed emperor in the east. His brother, Valentinian I, retains rule over the west.
- 1821: Three days after the proclamation of the Greek Revolution, a provisional government is formed in the liberated city of Kalamata.
- 1832: Augustinos Kapodistrias is forced to resign from his post as Governor of Greece.
