Danut Lupu is a Romanian former football attacking midfielder.

Lupu was born on February 27, 1967 in Galati, Romania. He was in the Romanian squad for the 1990 World Cup and immediately afterwards transferred to Panathinaikos. Despite his good footballing skills, he proved to be a liability with his difficult character. On February 16, 1991, he was arrested as the ring-leader of a criminal gang in Greece and was subsequently off-loaded by the greens first to Korinthos FC then to OFI. In 1994, Lupu left Greece.
