Sir Robert Perceval Armitage was the third-from-last British governor of Cyprus.
Armitage was born in 1909. He was governor of Cyprus from 1954 until September 25, 1955. During his rule, the EOKA uprising for Enosis started on April 1, 1955. Armitage was targeted for assassination on a couple of occasions but escaped. He was replaced by hardliner Sir John Harding.
Besides Cyprus, Armitage also served in various colonies in Africa.
He died in 1990.
