Born on November 1, 1962, Giorgos Mitsibonas was a football defender for AE Larisa during their heyday in the Greek League. In 1990, he joined PAOK. He moved on to Olympiakos in 1993 before returning to AE Larisa to end his career in 1995.

Mitsibonas was capped 26 times by the Greek National Football Team scoring 1 goal.

He died on September 13, 1997, in a car crash.
