  • January 16: Greece finish 5th at Women's Waterpolo World Championship in Perth, Australia after beating Canada 10-9 in overtime
  • January 24: Krzysztof Warzycha scores his 182nd League goal against Apollon Athens earning first place on Panathinaikos' all-time scoring list. Antonis Antoniadis had previously held the record with 181.

  • May 3: Vitesse striker Nikos Machlas scores his 34th goal in a match against Feyenoord (2-1) becoming Europe's top scorer
  • May 16: Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas is the first Greek to play in an English FA Cup final at Wembley (Newcastle Utd. - Arsenal 2-0)
  • May 17: Stelios Manolas plays his last game as AEK defeat SKODA Xanthi (2-0).
  • May 23: Olympiakos lose to Ferencvaros in the Waterpolo European Cup double final.
  • May 24: Panathinaikos win their first Greek championship in 14 years by defeating PAOK 68-58 in the playoffs. After this game PAOK star Predrag Stojakovic moves to the Sacramento Kings becoming the first Greek to play in NBA.
  • May 30: Katerina Thanou breaks the womens' 100m Greek record with a time of 10.99.
  • May 31: Greece U21 rank 2nd after losing to Spain 1-0 in the final of European Football Championship.
