- 1913: The first massacre at Doxato took place during the Second Balkan War, as Bulgarian troops killed 650 inhabitants of this Drama prefecture town before burning it to the ground. A second massacre would took place in the same town during World War II
- 1930: The Law School of the University of Thessaloniki was established.
- 1955: EOKA fighter, Markos Drakos, was arrested by the British. He escaped three months later.
- 1972: The Military Government of Greece passed a "quickie divorce" law.
- 1984: Thessaloniki was twinned with Lemesos, Cyprus.
- Deaths: Lakis Petropoulos (1996), football player and coach.
