February 5: The Mount Parnes Casino is opened for business.
February 11: Evidence of petroleum appears off the coast of Thasos.
February 21: Thomas Mavros of Panionios scores against Pierikos, at age 16 years, 8 months old, becoming the youngest Greek player to score in the Alpha Ethniki.

March 9: Two Greek rivers, the Evros and the Pineios flood causing damages to the produce in their respective areas.
March 9: En route to the 1971 European Cup Final, Panathinaikos draw away to Everton 1-1 in the quarterfinals. The scorer of PAO's goal is number 9 (Antonis Antoniadis) who scored his 9th goal in Europe, on the 9th of the month, 9 minutes before time, exactly at 9:00PM!
March 24: Panathinaikos draw Everton 0-0 at home and advance into the semi-finals of the Cup of Champions on away goals.

December 15: Panathinaikos, representing Europe, draw 1-1 against Nacional of Montevideo in the first leg of the Intercontinental Cup. The lone green goal was scored by Totis Fylakouris. Yiannis Tomaras is seriously injured with a broken leg.
