  • March 9: Two Greek rivers, the Evros and the Pineios flood causing damages to the produce in their respective areas.
  • March 9: En route to the 1971 European Cup Final, Panathinaikos draw away to Everton 1-1 in the quarterfinals. The scorer of PAO's goal is number 9 (Antonis Antoniadis) who scored his 9th goal in Europe, on the 9th of the month, 9 minutes before time, exactly at 9:00PM!
  • March 24: Panathinaikos draw Everton 0-0 at home and advance into the semi-finals of the Cup of Champions on away goals.

  • April 28: Panathinaikos overturn a 1-4 loss in Belgrade against Crvena Zvezda with a 3-0 victory in Athens. The result enables PAO to qualify for the final of the European Champions' Cup in Wembley.
