- February 22: The trial of a bandit and several high officials of the Police force over the 1933 assassination attempt on Venizelos' life begins.

- March 1: Eleftherios Venizelos flees to Italy after the March 1 Movement fails.
- March 21: A fire destroys the city centre of Edessa.
- March 24: Generals Anastasios Papoulas and Koimisis are executed for their role in the March 1 attempted coup d' etat.

- July 6: Exiled King George II divorces Queen Elisabeth. Anti-royalists will claim that this divorce is in retaliation for Queen Elisabeth's brother (King Carol of Romania) divorcing King George's sister (Queen Helen).

- November 3: A referendum is held for the return of King George II to the throne in Greece. 97.8% voted for the return.
