727: A rebelious fleet of vessels from mainland Greece, led by Agallianus, is destroyed by a fleet loyal to Byzantine emperor Leo III. The rebellion occurred as aresult of the emperor's iconoclast views.
1878: British diplomats secure a ceasefire between the Greek rebels of Thessaly, Epirus and Macedonia on the one hand and the Turkish Army on the other.
1901: Advocates of Enosis (union with Greece) triumph in the Cretan elections.
1903: Bulgarian agents detonate bombs throughout Thessaloniki.
1906: King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra arrive in Athens to attend the 1906 Athens Olympiad.

2006: Vassilis Kontovazenitis becomes the 15th President of EPAE, taking over leadership from Alexandros Lykourezos
2011: SKODA Xanthi international footballer, Olubayo Adefemi, is killed in a traffic accident on the Egnatia motorway.
2024: Olympiakos qualify for the semi-finals of the European Conference League after defeating Fenerbahce 3-2 on penalties. Goalkeeper Kostas Tzolakis is the hero of the match saving three penalties.
