- 1771: Cretan revolutionary Daskaloyiannis was skinned alive by the Turks in Heraklio.
- 1946: The Greek Parliament controversially voted into law the Emergency Measures Act which allowed the death penalty for those that "worked against public order and the territorial integrity of the state"
- 1964: Fans vandalized and burned Leoforos Alexandras Stadium after a very suspicious 1-1 Greek Cup semifinal draw between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
