- 1949: The Battle of Grammos-Vitsi ends in a decisive victory for the national forces who are now in firm control of all of Greece. The Greek Civil War, for all practical purposes, is over.
- 1960: A woman is executed for the first time in Greece for a crime: it was a mother-in-law who had strangled her pregnant daughter-in-law
- 2004: The closing ceremonies are held for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens. Anna Vissi, Dionisis Savvopoulos, Marinella and other top Greek singers give memorable performances.
