Yiannis Damanakis is a Greek former football player, a defensive midfielder, of the 1970s - 1980s era.

Damanakis was born on October 2, 1952. He started his career at Chania FC and transferred to PAOK Thessaloniki in 1976. With PAOK, he won the Greek league title in 1985. He later played for Makedonikos.

Damanakis was capped 24 times by the National Football Team of Greece and was a member of the squad that competed in the finals of Euro 1980. He scored one goal, in a friendly against Australia.
