Nikos Anastasiadis

Nikos Anastasiadis is a Cypriot politician, leader of the Democratic Rally Party of Cyprus (DI.SY) and former President of the Republic of Cyprus.

Anastasiadis was born on September 27, 1946, in the village of Pera Pedi in Lemesos province. He studied law in the University of Athens and London University. He is a lawyer by profession and one of the original founders of the DI.SY. Party.

He was elected Chairman of the Democratic Rally Party in 1997 and again in 1999. He serves as member of Parliament from Lemesos since 1981.

Anastasiadis stood for President of Cyprus in the 2013 election. He won the first round on February 17 with 45.46% of the vote and advanced to the runoff against AKEL candidate Stavros Malas who won 26.91%. He won the runoff on February 24 polling 57.48% of the vote. He was installed as President on February 28, 2013.
