Georgios Petsos is a Greek political figure in the PASOK party.
Petsos was born in Edessa, Macedonia, Greece on March 7, 1947. He studied Law at the University of Thessaloniki.
After the restoration of democracy in July 1974, he joined the PASOK party and was elected to the Hellenic Parliament in the elections of 1977, 1981 and 1985.
Petsos served in the cabinet of many Andreas Papandreou governments:
- As Deputy Minister of Defence (1981 - 1982)
- As Deputy Minister of Industrial Energy (1987)
- As Minister of Transport and Communications (1988)
- As Minister of Public Order (1988 - 1989)
From 1998 until 2000 he served as Nomarch of the prefecture of Pella.
During his political career, Petsos was targeted by the Revolutionary Organization 17 November and on May 8, 1989, was injured in a bomb attack at Filothei, Athens.
Petsos currently works in the private sector as Chairman of a foreign concern in Greece. He is married with one son.
