Comments

This championship was a reversal of the 1960 Football Championship: Panathinaikos were two points clear of AEK and needed just a draw to win their fourth title in succession however they managed to lose 4-2 to Ethnikos Piraeus in the last game of the season and ended up even on points with AEK - who had a better goal average.
