Thomas Mavros was the classic striker that could move quickly in the opposing area, take very strong shots, was smart with the ball and could bring chaos to defenders. He holds the record in the Greek championship with 260 goals in 501 games.
Thomas Mavros started his football career in 1970 with the club of Panionios and he transferred to AEK in 1976. There, he won two championships (1978 and 1979) one cup (1978) and later he returned to Panionios in 1988 where he finished his career in 1991.
Mavros was capped 36 times with the National team of Greece (11 goals) between 1972-1982. When he debuted against Holland on February 16, 1972, he set a record as the youngest Greek international (17 years, 261 days old) which stood until November 2011.
