1978: Greece trounced Finland 8-1 in a Euro 1980 qualifier as Thomas Mavros scored 3, Takis Nikoloudis and Giorgos Delikaris 2 each and Mike Galakos one.
2003: A pair of Siamese twins from Thessaloniki were successfully separated in Rome.
2003: Greece defeated N. Ireland 1-0 and qualified for the finals of Euro 2004.
