  • February 5: Female readers of "Harlequin" romance novels in 14 countries name Greeks as the sexiest men in the world.
  • February 14: Glafkos Clerides is elected President of Cyprus defeating incumbent Georgios Vasiliou.
  • February 19: The government of FYROM asks the Greek government for permission to open a consulate in Athens.
  • February 21: Turkish PM, Turgut Ozal, accuses Greece of "chauvinism" in relation to FYROM's use of the name "Macedonia".

March

  • March 16: Aris defeat Efes Pilsen 50-48 in Turin to win the European Cup-Winners' Cup. A vicious chair-fight follows the match between Greek fans and Turkish fans and players.
  • March 29: George Rallis resigns from the Greek Parliament in protest over the government's handling of the FYROM problem.

April

  • April 1: A defendant is shot and wounded and his lawyer is killed, during a trial for negligent homicide. The culprit - who kills himself afterwards - is the father of the man whom the defendant killed in a traffic accident.
  • April 2: A great fire on Skiathos burns much of the island's forested areas.
  • April 3: Panathinaikos stun Ajax 1-0 in Amsterdam in the first leg of the Champions' League semi-finals.
  • April 15: Businessman Socrates Kokkalis takes over as President of Olympiakos.
  • April 28: During the game against Panathinaikos, Panionios player, Boban Jankovic, disgusted with a decision by the referee, head butts the goal post and as a result remains paralysed.
