Comments
Popular demand brought German-based Hungarian coach, Jeno Csaknady back at the helm of AEK and he responded winning them their second post-WW II title - both with him in charge.
Olympiakos lost their coach - Marton Bukovi - after four successive losses at the hands of Vyzas (1-3), Panathinaikos (0-1), PAOK (0-1) and AEK (1-4).
This season was the first for striker Stavros Sarafis who, alongside Giorgos Koudas, would make PAOK a force to be reckoned with in years to come.
Another "first" for the 1968 season was the addition of Olympiakos Lefkosia - the champions of Cyprus - making this truly a "Panhellenic" championship. To accommodate them, EPO increased the number of teams in the Alpha Ethniki from 16 to 18.
