Nikitas Kaklamanis is a Greek politician, former minister and, recenlty, mayor of Athens, Greece.
Kaklamanis was born on the island of Andros on April 1, 1946. He studied medicine at the University of Athens and is a radiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiotherapy by profession.
Kaklamanis joined the conservative New Democracy party in 1974. He was first elected a member of the Hellenic Parliament in 1990. In 1993, he was reelected under the banner of the Political Spring party of Antonis Samaras but joined New Democracy once again and has served in Parliament under the ND banner ever since. In 1994, he was elected a Member of the European Parliament.
Kaklamanis has served as Minister of Health and Social Solidarity under present-day PM Costas Karamanlis. He served as Mayor of Athens from January 1, 2007 - having won the municipal elections of October 15, 2006 - until 2010.
