- January 30: Anorthosis Famagusta FC is founded.
February
- February 12: A number of professors from the University of Athens petition Parliament to declare the Katharevousa version of the Greek language as the one and only official language of the Greek state.
- February 26: Serious debates take place on the matter of the Greek language. Writer/MP Lorentzos Mavilis states in Parliament: "there is no vulgar language. Only vulgar people". University students protest against poet Kostis Palamas' strong pro-Demotic stand.
March
- March 31: A French military delegation under Gen. Eydoux, arrives in Greece. Its task is to reform the Hellenic Army.
April
- April 4: A major earthquake (7.1 on the Richter scale) strikes Thera and the surrounding area.
- April 9: Kostis Palamas is suspended for a month by the University of Athens for his defence of the Demotic version of the Greek language.
- April 11: An English military delegation arrives in Greece. Its task is to reform the Hellenic Navy.

- September 1: The Battleship Georgios Averof is commissioned by the Hellenic Navy.

- November 7: The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople closes all churches until the persecution of Christians stops.
