  • June 6: Eleftherios Venizelos becomes the target of an assassination attempt for the second time in his life. His car is riddled with bullets but the Cretan politician escapes unhurt.
  • June 8: Eleftherios Venizelos is interviewed by the police concerning the assassination attempt against his life. He accuses the government and especially Interior Minister, Ioannis Rallis, as responsible.

  • July 23: A strong earthquake (6.6 on the Richter scale) strikes Kos, killing 200 persons.
