- January 1: OTE begins offering automated services to subscribers; weather and on duty hospital information.
- January 9: The Greek government officially announces that 4,000 Greeks were forced to leave Istanbul during 1964 - the year of the Cyprus crisis.
- January 22: Aliki Vougiouklaki marries Dimitris Papamichail.
- January 27: PAOK are crushed by Olympiakos 0-4 at Toumba thanks to goals by Botinos, Gioutsos, Aghanian and Giorgos Sideris. Eleven years later (January 4, 1976) PAOK will take their revenge at Karaiskaki Stadium (Olympiakos-PAOK 0-4)

- November 10: Panathinaikos draw 0-0 with Ferencvaros, in Budapest, for the Champions' Cup. The away draw was considered a great result as Ferencvaros were very powerful at the time.
- November 17: Panathinaikos lose 3-1 to Ferencvaros, at home, and are eliminated from the Champions' Cup. The disappointing loss led to dissension and infighting within the Greek squad.

- December 7: Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras and Pope Paul VI agreed to a revocation of the mutual excommunication decrees of 1054; this historic event was accomplished through simultaneous services in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and the patriarchal church in Constantinople.
- December 9: PM Stephanos Stephanopoulos announces the creation of the Liberal Democratic Centre party.
