  • January 27: An Athens Appellate Court acquits Police Officer Athanasios Melistas in the 1985 shooting of 15-year old student Kaltezas.

February

  • February 3: Two bazookas are stolen from the Greek War Museum.
  • February 5: The Revolutionary Organization 17 November sends a proclamation to the "Epikairotita" newspaper, assuming responsibility for stealing two bazookas from the Greek War Museum.
  • February 27: Despite opposition from the Church, divorce laws are reformed and the civil wedding ceremony is introduced in Cyprus.

April

  • April 8: New Democracy win the 3rd parliamentary elections held within a year with 46.8% of the vote and 150 seats.

May

  • May 4: Constantine Karamanlis is elected President of Greece.
  • May 18: 17-year old footballer, Yiannis Tsatsanis - nicknamed "Marcellino" - is kidnapped for ransom. Three months later, he will be found dead near Skourta, Boeotia.
  • May 21: Greece recognises the state of Israel.
  • May 30: A liver transplant is performed for the first time in Greece.
