  • February 18: Archbishop Makarios III is proclaimed President of Cyprus for a third term as there were no other candidates for the post.
  • February 21: Law students barricade themselves inside the buildings of the Law School of the university of Athens demanding repeal of the law that imposed forceful conscription of "subversive youths".
  • February 25: Nikos Koemtzis kills three persons and injures another six over a song he requested at a night club. Among the dead is a nephew of former Olympiakos footballer Thanasis Soulis.
