- January 30: Patriarch Constantine VI of Constantinople is deported by the Turkish government.

- March 10: Olympiakos Club of Fans of Piraeus is founded

- May 1: Cyprus is declared a Crown colony.
- May 22: Constantine VI resigns as Patriarch of Constantinople.

- June 24: Officers loyal to Theodoros Pangalos stage a coup. For the next two years, Pangalos will rule Greece by decree.

- July 6: A powerful earthquake (6.6 on the Richter scale) strikes Achaea prefecture and the surrounding area.
- July 14: Basil III is elected Ecumenical Patriarch.
- July 26: PAOK play their first football match defeating Iraklis in Thessaloniki with 2-1. The four-leaf clover, on the players' shirt, will be replaced by the two-headed eagle on 20/3/1929, when the team will merge with AEK Thessaloniki

- September 21: Greek authorities hunt down the bandit gang of Yiangoulas and Babanis.

- October 6: Censorship and martial law are instituted by the Pangalos dictatorship.
- October 22: The Pangalos government in reaction to Bulgarian provocations, orders the advancement of Greek troops into Bulgarian grounds. They withdraw a week later under preassure from the League of Nations

- November 27: Theodoros Pangalos tries to assert his authority by holding a publicly held hanging execution; Drakakos and Zafeiropoulos were executed for embezzling public funds.
