- January 9: The Greek government officially announces that 4,000 Greeks were forced to leave Istanbul during 1964 - the year of the Cyprus crisis.
- January 22: Aliki Vougiouklaki marries Dimitris Papamichail.
- January 27: PAOK are crushed by Olympiakos 0-4 at Toumba thanks to goals by Botinos, Gioutsos, Aghanian and Giorgos Sideris. Eleven years later (January 4, 1976) PAOK will take their revenge at Karaiskaki Stadium (Olympiakos-PAOK 0-4)
